The best free way to block porn sites and other websites that you or your kids don’t want to surf is, to use the service from OpenDNS. Follow these steps and you will adore the results;
1- Register in the Open DNS website (https://www.opendns.com/), then click the Personal tab and then choose Open DNS Home. This will lead you to page where you can create an account.
2- After you have created an account, login using your e-mail address and password.
3- After you have logged in , choose your device type and then click on Dashboard (it is at the top of the page) and then click the Settings tab. (see figure below).
4- Choose your IP address from the Settings for: drop down menu (Open DNS will automatically fill that for you). (see figure below).
5- Set the Web content filtering level to either High,Moderate….etc, depending on the type of content you want to be filtered. And then click Apply. (see figure below).
6- If you know the web address of the particular websites you want to block, Add them on the Manage Individual Domains section (this is on the same page.)
7- Then go to computer’s control Panel and click Network and Internet and then choose Network and sharing center and then click Change adaptor settings from the choises on the left.
8- Then a new window will open and right-click on the network you use for the internet and then click on Properties.
9- Then you will see a new window (see figure below), click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click properties.
10- Then a new window will open and then click the radio button “Use the following DNS server addresses” write the following on the Preferred DNS server ( 208.67.222.123) and Alternate DNS (208.67.220.123) and then click OK. (see figure below). Now you have successfully blocked all the websites that you don’t want to surf!!!
